Dentistry implants<\/strong> are not new\u00a0to dentistry; in fact\u00a0the Mayans and the\u00a0Chinese\u00a0were already trying to\u00a0replace\u00a0lost teeth\u00a0in 3000 BC by hammering\u00a0foreign objects into\u00a0the jawbone. It\u00a0was in 1980 that\u00a0titanium\u00a0emerged in\u00a0dentistry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Today,\u00a0the implantology success rate is very high provided that the\u00a0quality and\u00a0quantity\u00a0of residual bone\u00a0are\u00a0adequate. If\u00a0a tooth is extracted, an implant should be placed immediately\u00a0for the front teeth\u00a0and after 4 months for a posterior tooth.\u00a0A long waiting time before the replacement surgery\u00a0will most probably lead to\u00a0bone loss\u00a0requiring bone grafting prior to the placement of an implant.<\/p>\n

Aside\u00a0from mild discomfort\u00a0and\u00a0a little inflammation, there are\u00a0usually\u00a0no serious complications\u00a0and\u00a0the patient can return\u00a0to their everyday life\u00a0but must avoid\u00a0vigorous exercises\u00a0for\u00a024 hours.<\/p>\n
